The Perfect Fiber Optic Tree For Christmas 2009-11-23
A Fiber Optic is a strand of glass (about the diameter of a human hair) surrounded by a reflective coating, used to transmit light over long distances. Some optical fibers can be made from plastic, have a large core (1 mm diameter) and transmit visible light from LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) or Bulbs. Fiber Optic Trees are made with plastic optical fibers with large core sizes. A Fiber Optic Tree is not a traditional pre-lit Christmas tree. You won't have lights throughout the tree, instead just the tips of the branches have small fiber optic lights on them. A Fiber Optic Tree is formed by a plurality of optical fibers each having two ends. The base of the tree have a chamber to house a light source. The light coupled into the first end of each optical fiber is transmitted to the second end. The result is a spectacular light show of any color. When You turn it on the tree will brighten with rays of light cascading from the branches, watch as the colors change throughout the tree and enjoy its magic. The light source of a Fiber Optic Tree can be LEDs or Bulbs. To power it up, bulbs need an AC adaptor. LEDs can be used with AC adaptor or batteries.
